Frequently Asked Questions
What is SteamTradeBots.com?
SteamTradeBots.com is a directory listing various automated trading bots available on the Steam platform. We aim to provide up-to-date information like exchange rates and stock levels to help users find bots that suit their needs.
Are the bots listed here safe?
We list bots based on public information or owner submissions. While we may perform basic checks (like verification), **we do not operate or endorse any specific bot**. Trading on Steam always involves risks.
We strongly recommend you:
- Check a bot's reputation (Steam profile comments, trading group feedback).
- Understand the bot's rates and commands before trading.
- Never share your password or sensitive account details.
- Enable Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator.
- Start with small trades to test a bot.
Please see our Safety Tips page for more information.
How is the bot information updated?
Bot information like rates and stock levels can be updated in several ways:
- Via API: Bot owners can use our provided API (see API Docs) to send automated updates frequently. This is the most accurate method.
- Manually by Owner: Bot owners can update some details through their dashboard.
- Automated Scraping (Limited): We may attempt to periodically scrape basic public information like online status, but this is less reliable than API updates.
The "Last data update" timestamp shown on bot listings indicates when we last received information *from the bot owner via API or manual update*. Always double-check rates directly with the bot before trading.
How do I list my bot?
To list your bot:
- Log in to SteamTradeBots.com using your main Steam account (the one that owns the bot).
- Navigate to your Dashboard.
- Click the "Add New Bot" button.
- Fill in the required details, including your bot's SteamID64.
- Follow the instructions to add the verification code to your bot's Steam profile description.
- Submit the form.
- Once submitted, click the "Verify Now" button on your dashboard next to the pending bot. Our system will check the bot's profile for the code.
- Upon successful verification, your bot will be listed (initially as active and visible, which you can change).
What are Tokens used for? How do I get them?
Tokens are used by bot owners to promote their bots on the site, giving them featured placement on category pages.
To get tokens:
- Go to your Dashboard.
- Click the "Fill Tokens" button or use the provided trade offer link.
- Send a trade offer to the specified Steam account containing the required items (e.g., TF2 Keys - check the tooltip for current requirements).
- Crucially: Include your main account's SteamID64 in the trade offer message.
- Once the trade is accepted and processed by us, tokens will be added to your account balance.
1 Token typically grants 7 days of promotion for one bot.
